Jet skis, broken mailboxes, new cars
Friday afternoon Greg got a call from his bro-in-law, John, saying that Diane (Greg's sis) slipped and fell at the boat ramp and hurt her shoulder. They were unloading the jet skis and there was a lot of algae that had accumulated there on the ramp. Anyway, they were at the hospital gettings x-rays done to make sure that she didn't break anything...so for awhile there we weren't sure if we were going down to visit for the weekend. Finally John called at about 7:30 and said Diane was fine, and to go ahead and come down. We quickly had dinner and left for the long trip to Canyon Lake. Got in at about 1:30am...
Greg spent most of the weekend jet skiing with John and his nephew Marshall. I went Saturday afternoon with John and Greg. It was my first time on a jet ski, so I had Greg take me around once to get the feel for it. It was pretty fun. I spent the rest of the weekend hanging out with Diane and Marshall's wife Laura. It was cool and relaxing. They have a hot tub that overlooks the cove. Was pretty.
We ended up driving back Sunday evening. Stopped by this little country restaurant and had dinner. Tastiness. Got back kinda late, and promptly went to bed.
Monday morning we discovered that our mailbox got knocked over while we were gone. As we were standing there examining the damage, the daughter of the older Korean couple that live across the street drove up. She said her parents' mailbox got knocked over too on Saturday night. Apparently little things like this happen every once in awhile in my neighborhood. It's pretty irritating. Then I was on hold with the Garland police for half an hour while I tried to file a police report. I gave up and never did. Anyway, we had Luci over for lunch. Grilled salmon and had rice to go with it. Good times. Jerry even made an appearance for a little while (we coaxed him with ice cream). Heh heh.
We rested a little while, then went to the driving range. It was hotter than hell. I was hitting pretty well. :o) Should be all set for Michigan. On the way home, Greg wanted to stop by this golf shop on 75, so we were driving down the service road when he saw this black 2002 Solara convertible at one of the dealerships. We turned around and went for a test drive on it. The guy at first told us that it was selling for $13,900. We didn't really believe him 'cuz that's just way too cheap for the car. But he repeatedly told us it was that price. So we went home (to look up financing) and found out that the dealership had it listed at $22,500 on their website. We weren't expecting much, but Greg went back up there to see about it. As he was sitting at the little table (where they try to rip every penny out of you), they went back on their price (don't go to Courtesy Nissan...they're not very courteous). So no car as of yet, but we're stopping by to take a look at a few Sebring convertibles at different dealerships tonight. Wheeeee!
I've got training the rest of the afternoon. Fun fun. Hopefully it won't be too difficult staying awake. :p Hee hee.
