TGIF!
Another week has flown by...
Today has been pretty nice. Had lunch with my mentor today...we went to this sandwich shop in the building next to us. It was really good, and it's within walkable distance. I need to go there more often. :o) Anyway, we brought the food back, grabbed a conference room, and planned out what we need to do for our presentation in the general meeting on the 18th. :o) It should be fun.
Tonight I have a hockey game. We're trying to finish up our season before Easter weekend, so we have to double-up one weekend and play both Friday night and Sunday night. :o) After the game, we're going out with some teammates for Chinese food. Mmmmmmmm...
Tomorrow I hafta be at work at 9:45am. Yuck. Hopefully it won't last more than a couple of hours. I get a full comp day for coming in to do the test. Ah well. After that, Greg and I need to go to Tom Thumb to meet with the decorator to see if she can give us a quote on our wedding cake. Then I'm off to go shopping with my sister for reception stuff. Fun fun. :o)
Sunday I think we're gonna go visit a jeweler to get Greg's ring size, so we can order a wedding ring for him. That should be interesting. I don't quite enjoy going to jewelry stores...maybe it's just too much "bling" for my liking. :p Hee hee. Then of course Sunday night I have my game. Yup...s'bout it!
Next Wednesday is Greg's birthday. His birthday present should be arriving tomorrow. :o) Yey! He's taking off next Thursday to go play golf, and then I'm taking off next Friday to use up that comp day that I'm earning tomorrow. Hee hee.
Oh, and next weekend we're going camping at Purtis Creek. We were gonna go this weekend, but all the sites were booked! Ha ha. Oh well. Next weekend is better for me anyways. :o) This will prob be the last time that we'll get to do it before it gets super hot.

Wooowheeeee!!!
An excellent weekend in my book! :o) Here's what's up...
Friday I did much of the usual. Packed and went over to Greg's. Went to the driving range. He changed my golf swing, and all of a sudden I was launching my iron shots. Amazing. :o) Ha ha.
Saturday we went to run some errands in the morning and to check the weather for the weekend. Took a gamble (for it not to rain) and went camping at Purtis Creek. Was nice. We got the same campsite as we did the last time. :o) It was actually nice and cool. Had an early dinner and then went down to the fishing pier to watch people fish. Exciting hobby, lemme tell ya. I'm pretty sure that I'll never get into that...oh the horrifying amount of time to sit and wait. I think I have better things to do. Anyway, we saw the same person catch 2 bass within 5 minutes. So that was kinda neat I guess (oh the excitment). We left soon after despite the "ooooh's and aaaaaahh's" that the dude was getting from the other fishermen. Just couldn't take more of that and be bitten by bugs.
Saturday night it did rain a little bit. Nothing major though. Rained again Sunday morning. Mostly just very light rain where you can still walk around in without being too concerned with an umbrella. Must be what it's like to go camping in Seattle. :p We made our usual breakfast burritos and packed up before it started raining again. Caught some nice rain on the way back though. Then it chilled out and we went to the driving range later in the evening. :o)
Today was the exciting part! I went on a ride along with the Plano Police Department. It was SOOOOO fun!!! They assigned me to a rookie officer who is still on her probation period (it ends tomorrow). She was good company. We went and checked out a burglary call first thing...the burglar went in through the back yard (lock your back yard doors please) and broke the glass in the back door and got in. They went straight for the jewelry and documents in the master bedroom. All this happened within the 2.5 hours that the owners' daughter went out to do some shopping. They must have been staking out to see when she was leaving and stuff. Anyway, then we went to talk to some kids who were caught launching spitballs (coulda been rocks too) at passing cars off of Legacy. We took a bathroom break at the fire station, and I got the fireman to take me on a tour of the station. It's actually really cool. They work 24-hr shifts, so the station is actually like a house that they live in...complete with state-of-the-art kitchen and exercise room, etc. :o)
After visiting with the firemen, we stopped by Kohl's to check on a theft call. The store employees had stopped and detained the 17-yr-old guy. He couldn't come up with his home address & phone number (he was staying with a friend), so we took him to jail. That took awhile...the officer had to fill out a bunch of paperwork for that. When we finally got outta there, we went back to our beat and got some gas and had dinner at Boston Market. Then we got a call to check on an abandoned vehicle. Went and drove around for some patrolling. We sat and tried to do some traffic stops on Legacy, but 5 minutes after we got there, we got called on an 911 emergency case. So we turned on the lights and sirens and sped down Custer going about 70mph. WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!! We didn't really know where we were going, so I was trying to help by checking the map. The PD's new map sucks...the markings on there were tiny and hard to find. Anyway, we caught up with the paramedics going to the call and found the apartment complex. Then the officer handed me the old map that she has for me to find where the building is in the complex. It was cool to be able to help out a little bit. :o) It was a domestic disturbance call where the guy was bipolar (they think) and was bothering his girlfriend and kids. Long story short, the guy wanted to kill himself 'cuz he didn't have a job and wanted a way out of his relationship with his gfriend. He told the officers that he wanted to be arrested so they could put him in a hospital for treatment. Weird huh? At one point he had a brick and was hitting his forehead with it. So we were at the call for awhile, collected a statement from his gfriend, went by the hospital to check on him, and got back to the station a little bit later. :o) All in all it was a fun and exciting ride along. Little did I know all this stuff happened in Plano during the day. Ha! :o)
