Nerd Books
Ever since I got Photoshop CS2, I've been really wanting to learn it properly so I could get the most use out of it. I tried reading the User Guide that came with the software, but it was pretty useless. So I went and got a new book, Real World Camera Raw with Adobe Photoshop CS2. Haven't gotten very far into it yet, but it looks like it has useful tips on how I can streamline the conversion and editing of my wedding pics. :o)
Anyway, I ended up buying the book from NerdBooks.com because it was cheaper than Amazon, even with sales tax added. It's a bookstore dedicated to nerd books. :o) The storefront had moved from California to Richardson this summer. I had been meaning to stop in there to check it out (it's just down the street from my house). They allow local in-store pickup if you order books via their website (you just have to put in the Comments section to not ship it). So Greg and I stopped by there on the way home last night to pick up my book, and it was a geek paradise! :o) They had a ton of big door-stopping nerd books, with some chairs and couches to sit on if you want to stick around and read! The guy at the store was really nice too. Hee hee. I'll have to plan another time to go check it out for real. *Excited*

*Proud*
On Saturday, my parents stuck around after dinner with Greg's Dad and Paul...the guys went to the Rangers game. Anyway, my Dad and I put together my new computer. :o) The only thing we couldn't figure out was whether to attach one of the extra power supply cables to the ATX12V plug on the motherboard (it had all sorts of warning labels on it so we weren't sure). After checking with Chris on Sunday, I plugged it in, and everything booted up and stuff! :o) Yey!!!
Now it has XP x64 on it...and I'm installing new drivers, etc. How exciting! :o)

Life beyond the wedding...
Since it took me so long to finishing updating about the wedding and the Jamaica trip itself, I haven't gotten a chance to talk about life after the wedding. Honestly, it really isn't all that different. :p The major thing is combining finances, I think. But it's working itself out.
We had our reception in Dallas on June 4th, at the Pecan Hollow Golf Course. Of course, as expected, the people setting up the room didn't show up until an hour after they were supposed to...making us late for our set-up. We were rushed quite a bit, but everything turned out okay. The food was great, the company was great, and overall a good time. :o)
Other than that, Greg's been working in the yard a lot. Looks real nice now. :o) We cut down a dead tree that was at the corner of the house...and planted flowers. :o) Purty.
Chris and I went to the AMD/Microsoft Tech Tour a few weeks ago, and came home with lots of goodies. I sold the server bundle that I got to a guy in Florida, and kept the desktop bundle to build a new PC. Most of the parts just came in, so I'll probably begin assembling pretty soon. :p Here are the specs so far...
- AMD Athlon 64 3200+ Processor and retail Heatsink Fan
- ASUS A8N-E Socket 939 Motherboard
- Athena Power Space Shuttle - 500W (P4ATX55FE)
- Kingston KVR400X64C3A/1G 1GB DDR400 PC3200 Memory (x2)
- Western Digital Caviar SE SATA 250GB Hard Drive (WD2500JD)
- Western Digital SE EIDE 250GB Hard Drive (WD2500JB) (x2)
- ATI Radeon X800 XL Graphics Card
- Toshiba SD-R5372 Dual Layer DVD±RW Writer
- Windows XP Professional x64 Edition
- Microsoft Optical Desktop Elite for Bluetooth
- Samsung 930B 19" LCD Monitor
Anyways, should be an adventure trying to put this together and making it work. :p
In other news, Greg's Dad is flying up from San Antonio for the weekend, and we're gonna have a family get together on Saturday. Should be pretty fun. Hee hee. :o)

MS Money + SP2 = No Workie
So last night I sat down to update my checking information in MS Money, since I hadn't done in ages...thought I'd get caught up while I had a little bit of time. But I kept getting this "Error 1606 - Cannot access network location" error, every time I start Money, or enter a transaction. If you click "Cancel" and "OK" a few times, the program goes on. But it'd tell you that again when you try to enter another transaction. It was pretty annoying. Then I remembered that it was having this problem after I upgraded the system to SP2 a long time ago (but never had time to fix). So I decided to just fix it and get it over with once and for all (this error also comes up after I log in to GMail).
My next 2 hours went something like this...
After much searching through the MS support center, I found this article that said to uninstall Money. I went and uninstalled it. Restarted computer, and tried to reinstall. It told me that it failed to install the Money System Pack. Fine, I go to try to uninstall the Money SP, but it wouldn't let me uninstall through Add/Remove Programs. Went and looked for another article. This one told me to go into my registry and manually delete the entries for the Money SP. Painstakingly slow process to go through all those keys to pick out the right ones. Restarted computer. Reinstalled Money, and finally got it working.
Most annoying...what a waste of 2 hours...shouldn't a service pack put out by Microsoft work with its own programs? A ton of other people had problems with this. But I'm just glad that the stupid 1606 error is gone now...

Nerdin' it out...
Had a nice night last night, just relaxing and stuff. For some reason I was just really tired yesterday, so I wanted to just sit around and do nothing. The last half of my Amazon order arrived, with my new PHP book. I read that for a little while...and was kinda watching TV. Greg was playing on his PlayStation. It was pretty relaxing.
Tonight we're meeting up with Chris & Beta at Players Bench to show Chris some hockey equipment, etc. Then I think we're gonna go over to Rockfish for dinner. Mmmmmmmm. Fun fun! I can't wait. I wish I could make work disappear today and skip right to hockey shopping. Hee hee.
