Christmas was quite fun this year. We left at around 3pm on Friday to go down to San Antonio. Stopped by the Hard Eight in Stephenville for a late lunch/early dinner along the way. It was mighty tasty. The temperature was in the mid-70's, so we ate outside, which was nice. :o) Arrived at Greg's Dad's at around 9ish...Paul arrived at 10ish. We sat around and chatted a bit and went to sleep.

Saturday morning Greg's cousin Jeff came by to drop off our tickets to the Saints vs. Lions game. The game started at Noon, so we left at about 10:30 to head downtown. We parked over by the Riverwalk, then proceeded to walk over to the stadium. It took about 15 minutes to walk over (it was pretty ridiculous where they had put parking for this stadium). Jeff and Mike (and Mike's kids) joined us for the game. The game was pretty good...Detroit won with seconds left in the game with a field goal.

We went and ate at Republic of Texas at the Riverwalk after the game. We had originally wanted to go to Casa Rio, but most of the Mexican restaurants there were closed on Christmas Eve, so we didn't get to. The food at the Republic was pretty ordinary...nothing special.

Later than night, we went over to Uncle Guy and Aunt Martha's house for Christmas Eve dinner. A whole bunch of people were there (lots of people I had never met). Mike dressed up as Santa Claus and made a grand entrance after dinner. It was pretty entertaining. We got way too many boxes of chocolate.

Sunday morning we headed out to Boerne to go to Diane & John's house for Christmas. It was fun hanging out. We got to meet our niece Sarah's new fiance, Bryan. He seems nice. :p The boys went out to the driveway to play football after lunch. Only a couple of injuries this time. :o) We sat around, watched basketball/football, and called it a day.

Oh, forgot to mention...Greg got me a USA Hockey Jersey that I wanted. :o) He was sneaking around last week to try to find it, but he had to go to 5 different stores before he found the right size at the Colleyville Players Bench. Ha ha. :p

Anyway, we left Monday morning to come home...stopped by Niester's in Granbury for lunch. Mmmmmmm. Bought a loaf of their sourdough bread. It smells soooooo good. :o) Got home at around 5ish, unpacked, bummed around, watched the Stars game on HD (wheeeee!), and went to bed. :o)

My boss gave me a comp day to take tomorrow. Hee hee. She said it's for the extra hours that I've worked this year (which was actually a lot). So I'll get to run some errands. Fun stuff. :p

Merry Christmas everyone!!! :o)

I've been so insanely busy at work that I haven't gotten a chance to post all month! Goodness gracious. Can't believe it's already Christmas. Must get a groove on the wrapping of presents.

Summarizing December as briefly as possible...

On December 10, 2005, my lil sis GRADUATED from UTD!!!! :o) Yey!!! My friend Katie from my hockey team also graduated that day with a Masters degree. Hee hee.

Greg and I got a TV stand finally. It was an ongoing battle with the sales guy from the store that we bought the TV from. The stand was "on order" when we bought the TV, and we were basically told that it might be there when the TV was delivered. We kept getting a later date whenever we ask about the stand. Then finally, I got fed up with having to check up on this guy every week, that I told him if he can't guarantee a date of arrival for this stand, we'll just cancel the order and get it somewhere else. He called back and said that the date that he was given at that point was the end of December. We told him to just refund us the money, and we went to Best Buy and bought the other stand. I think I actually like this one better 'cuz there's more shelf space. :o) Plus it was on sale for $150, and I had $50 of gift cards for Best Buy from my birthday...so we paid $100 for it! Hee hee.

Oh my hockey team won our game on Sunday night against the Mantis, 2-0. Wheeee! :o)

We're leaving on Friday to go to San Antonio for Christmas. :o) Greg's cousin Jeff got a bunch of us tickets to the Saints vs. Lions game on Saturday, so we'll be going to that. Then Aunt Martha invited us over to their place for Christmas Eve dinner. We'll be going over to Diane's for Christmas, then coming back on Monday I believe. Craziness!

Then on the 30th, we're flying down to Corpus Christi to visit Diane & John at their new beach house. :o) Can't wait to see it (I've only seen pictures). I heard it's pretty awesome...and one of the first things they put in there was a pool table. Ha ha ha. Wheeeee!

Oh, and I almost forgot...I'll be getting my bonus check on Friday. :o) Yey!!!! It's a huge bonus and a huge raise. I'm happy. :o)

Thanksgiving *almost* went off without a hitch. :p Reason I said "almost," is that we had forgotten to pick up the smoked turkey that we had ordered from Dickey's on Wednesday night. We were so preoccupied with the cable people (who didn't show up until 7:30pm), that we had forgotten to go by to pick up the turkey. We were watching the news at around 10, when they did a story on this Honey Baked Ham store being robbed...when we remembered that we had forgotten about the turkey. Normally, it wouldn't be a big deal 'cuz Dickey's would still be open...but since it was the night before Thanksgiving, they were closing at 8pm. Greg and I sat there for a minute while we pondered what to do next...when I came up with the great idea to at least call to see if anyone was still at the restaurant. Turns out that we were lucky, and a manager was still there 'cuz one of his employees screwed up something. WHEW! :o)

The rest of Thanksgiving went well. :o) Paul came over at about 11ish, and my family came over at around 2. Everything was delicious. :o) We hung out awhile and watched the Cowboys game on HD (woooot!). Then my family left to go home for a little bit before going to Matt's parents' house for dinner. The rest of the day was spent watching various sports games. We had a good time.

Friday, Marshall came over to watch the Texas vs. A&M game. He and Laura were in town visiting Laura's Mom. I think he said that Laura and her Mom were going shopping that day, so he got to come over to hang out with us. It was pretty fun. :o) He left after the game. We went to Parma for dinner. It was tasty, except that our waitress basically ignored us after she took our order (as in that she brought us our drinks, took our order, and we never saw her again). Needless to say, she didn't get a tip. I think Greg's gonna have a word with the owner of the place the next time he goes for lunch or something.

So yesterday the TV people came and dropped off our TV at about 10:30am. The TV stand hasn't made it to the store yet, so we probably won't get it until at least the end of the week. The screen isn't as gigantic as I had originally thought, but we can surely see it well from the other end of the house! Hee hee. I hooked up the computer to it for some 50" web surfing. Pretty fun.

The rest of yesterday was spent cleaning the house in preparation for our guests this week. Nothing unusually spectacular to report.

This morning I went and picked up Greg's Dad at Love Field, then we went to have lunch with Greg at Saltgrass. That was fun. Then his Dad and I came home and we watched some old football games on ESPN Classic, and then he went to take a nap. The Comcast guy called at 3 to tell me that someone would be out in 1.5 hours to install the cable card for HDTV. Then someone else called back half an hour later, and wanted to verify that I wanted a cable card. I told him yes...then he told me that they were out of cable cards at the warehouse that he's at, and that's all they were waiting on. Another technician had to go to the other warehouse to pick up something, and he was gonna look for a cable card while he was there. Anyway, I basically told him that I'm going to need either the card or the HD box for tomorrow 'cuz I have people coming over to watch the games and such, and that if they bring me the box today, I want it swapped out when they have a card available. More waiting ensued. I called him back about 20 minutes ago to make sure that they're still coming. He said that he had just talked to his boss, and they'll go ahead and install the box today, and come swap it out with the card when they have one (THEY BETTER!). So now he gets to go look for a guy who can come by to install the box. He did promise that someone will be out today...so we'll see.

Not a whole lot went on last week...just some busy work at the office, trying to slow things down some before my vacation this week. Paul came over Saturday to watch football games. The boys must have watched like 12 hours of football. Gracious. I escaped to the bedroom after awhile to watch some movies. :o)

Sunday we slept in, watched some of the Cowboys game, and then we went to this Home Theater Expo thing that Star Power was having so we could check out some HDTVs. I had a few in mind that I wanted to look at...and we went to Star Power 'cuz I know they would have good HD connections to their TVs so we could see their full potential. We ended up liking the new Sony 50" Grand WEGA 3LCD Rear Projection HDTV (KDF-E50A10). We also got the matching stand to go with it. :o) Wheeee! Star Power is delivering the unit tomorrow...they'll unpack and set it up for us. The stand was on order...hopefully they'll get it today or tomorrow and can deliver to us.

When I got home, I called Comcast to see about the whole deal with getting HDTV...the lady on the phone wasn't so friendly, so I got online and ordered the service...and got this guy who was very friendly. :o) The lady on the phone "doesn't think" that they could come out to install the Cable Card until after Thanksgiving...while the guy on chat said that they can come on Wednesday between 2pm and 5pm. That's perfect 'cuz we'll get to play with the TV some on Tuesday before installing the Cable Card.

So...what's left for me to do today, is to get the non-essentials off of our current entertainment center. When Greg gets home tonight, we'll need to move it over to the other side of the living room until my parents come to pick it up on Thursday (hopefully it'll fit in their van). I sure hope that the two of us can move it across the room...I just remembered that it took 4 of us to tilt it up when we were building it. Bleh...

In other news...we won our hockey game last night (2-1) against the Mantis. Everybody played really well. I got a really nasty bruise from blocking a slapshot during a penalty kill towards the end of the game. Ouchie. It's nice and purple today. :o/

The sales guy was really nice. He told us about all the differences between the beds and stuff. We took about half an hour laying on the different beds (including the Sealy Posture-pedic, which was also quite comfortable).

Anyway, we finally decided on the Tempur-Pedic Deluxe Bed with the platform foundations (kinda like box-springs equivalent). The sales guy also threw in a couple of the neck pillows along with free same-day delivery. There's also 12-month interest-free financing to go with it. Wheeee! :o)

So I'm sitting here watching TV and waiting for the delivery people to come to give us our bed! Hee hee hee. *Excited*

Yes yes, it's my birthday today. :o) Wheeee go me! :o)

I took off work Friday and today for this momentus occasion. Not looking forward to going back to work tomorrow. Hee hee. I can get used to hanging out with kitties all day long.

Friday I had lunch with Jo. Hadn't seen her since the reception! Goodness. We went to Celebration, and it was tasty. :o) Had a great time hanging out. We were running a little late though, so we barely missed Marina before she left for lunch. Jo very kindly brought the cake down for me.

Saturday we went over to Chris' for the party. People were all running pretty late. So we hung out awhile before anyone showed up. It was a small party, but was fun. Lots of fun were had, and big pieces of cake were had. :o) It was delicioso. Greg and I stuck around 'til about 5:30 or so...'cuz Paul had come over to watch football games, so we didn't want to ditch him. The rest of the night consisted of football and Sonic. Hee hee.

Sunday we hung out most of the day...then Greg went outside to pick up some leaves from the yard. All of a sudden he yelled for me to come out to see something. These little ones were what we had discovered! Ha ha ha. We had pretty much given up on them when we didn't see anything by mid-October. Then all of a sudden these little ones popped up. We have 5 of them. Someone(thing) had taken a bite out of the outside of one of them, so we cracked it open to see what it was like on the inside. The ripe part was actually quite sweet. :o) Hopefully the other 4 will grow bigger and more ripe before it gets cold (if it ever gets cold). Hee hee.

Today I just hung out with kitties...washed my car and stuff. Tonight we're going to Tokyo One with my family for dinner. Mmmmmmm! :o)

Oh, almost forgot, my sister and Matt had made an offer on a house in Plano! They close in December, which works out well 'cuz the lease at my sister's apartment is up in February. :o) Yey!

We were out of candy by about 8 (we didn't buy all that much). Our most memorable costume was worn by this girl who looked EXACTLY like Kirsten Dunst, dressed up as Aphrodite. It was really weird. Later on, a grandma came by with her grandson (a pirate) and her baby granddaughter (a chili pepper!). They were adorable. :o)

This week has been going by so quickly. I spent most of the week testing and integrating a new search engine for a couple of our sites. We launched our new Chinese mini-site for the Options Industry Council. It's pretty nifty. :o)

Yesterday Chris and I met up with Darcy at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas for their Lunch & Learn event, "You Earn What You Learn: Thriving as a Young Professional." They had a big buffet lunch, which was really cool. The President of the Dallas Fed introduced the speaker, Dr. Michael Cox, who's the Senior VP and Chief Economist. He spoke on the importance of education. Pretty cool. After the event, we went up to visit Darcy's cool desk on the 10th floor. Hee hee.
